Henrietta Cook - Journalist - Young Journalist of The Year 2010

Attended Elwood College 2000-2005

I graduated from Elwood College in 2005 and walked out the school gates with an excellent education, happy memories and lifelong friends. The school allowed me to grow into an independent and well-rounded adult and I loved its great sense of community.

Elwood College taught me to be an independent thinker, which meant I adapted to university with ease.  In 2008, I completed an Arts (Media and Communications) degree at the University of Melbourne where I received a Dean’s List award for academic excellence.

A week after finishing university I scored my first job as a journalist for Fairfax Community Network. After reporting for the Canberra Times, I am now back in Melbourne and loving my new job at The Age. I received the 2010 Melbourne Press Club Young Journalist of the Year award for an article I wrote on a same-sex couple who were not allowed to attend their school formal together.
