About Us

Elwood College is a co-educational secondary college which prides itself on the breadth of programs it provides. At our school, students are offered a strong academic grounding in all areas of the curriculum as well as enhancement activities to develop and extend their skills.

Our curriculum is designed to allow all students to participate in a wide range of learning experiences. Its structure ensures that students can build on their achievements and plan for the development of specialised skills in later years.

As well as providing a broad range of academic options, Elwood College employs specialist staff and promotes activities which add new dimensions to classroom studies. These include:

  • A "self-select" enrichment program for years 7 to 9
  • A VCE early entry program at year 10
  • Instrumental music, other performing arts and sports
  • Specialist programs in English as a Second Language
  • An extensive range of Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) and VCAL subjects

Students are also encouraged to reach their potential by exploring and contributing to college life. This includes the opportunity to be involved in: the Student Representative Council (SRC), inter-school debating, the school musical, school clubs, mentoring programs and student leadership programs.

The college has a Japanese Sister School, Obu Higashi Senior High School, and there are regular reciprocal visits as well as an established student exchange program between the schools. French language is also taught at Elwood College and students also have the opportunity to participate in short term study tours of France.
