Student Politics

Peggy Lucas and Raffy Blay report on the SRC’s achievements in 2017.

They are pictured here with former Elwood High student Damien Kingsbury, who spoke to our senior school students about his career in international politics.

In 2017, the Student Representative Council (SRC) successfully organised and managed a series of events. On Cupcake Day we raised over $300 to help the RSPCA fight animal cruelty, by selling delicious student-made treats. Wear it Purple Day saw everyone dressed in their finest collection of purple hues to show support for LGBTIQ+ youth. Our infamous Talent Night event was again a huge success.

We have also engaged in policy development and explored change in the school, working with leadership teams and the Principal to further develop the infrastructure of Elwood College and implement student voice. We have been working on an SRC structure revamp and are looking forward to creating more student voice and opportunities to take action. We also had students attend VicSRC conferences, which provided them with valuable skills they can bring to the SRC.

Overall, this year's SRC has proved to be a triumph, and we can’t wait for next year!
