Film Festival Fun

Elwood College students wanted a film festival, so they made it happen! SRC Secretary Raffy Blay reports.

Once again, the second ever Elwood College Student Representative Council (SRC) Film Spectacular has wowed the college community with its unique collection of student-made films. The SRC worked tirelessly to plan, coordinate and pull off this amazing event, which included films from comedy to dark dramas and stunning claymation.

A “dress as your favourite film character” competition also ran at the College during the day, which was a fantastic opportunity for students to show their creativity and dress up skills. Winners of the competition were Aurora Davey as Olaf, Niamh Mulcahy as Juno and Tristan Sicari as Toothless.

A big congratulations to winners of the night: Murphy Daniels for Stuck in a Daydream (Best Film); Billie Rae, Ed Macgillivray, Blake Gebleux and Rory Townsend for Brad Steele (Best Screenplay); and Nelson Dean for Wizard (Best Technical Achievement). The Best Actor award went to Jesse Williams.

Thanks as well to the Elwood College Film Spectacular Subcommittee, who coordinated this incredible event, as well as teachers Julian Stokes and Alysia Rawlings. A big thanks as well to the audience, who thoroughly enjoyed the event and of course everyone who submitted films.
