Skills for Life

Elwood College provides students with a range of opportunities to build the skills they will need for life.

Developing strong leadership skills is at the heart of our educational mission. Our students’ ideas are valued, and we encourage them to advocate for themselves and for others.

Classroom activities are designed to teach responsibility and collaboration, with students often being asked to work in or lead a team. These values are reinforced via our rich co-curricular program of sports, arts and music, school camps, debating, the student-run newspaper and public speaking. Leadership roles are further encouraged through positions such as the Student Representative Council and the Year 12 Leadership Program.

The Great Victorian Bike Ride and Elwood College Basketball Academy each provide students with a chance to learn resilience and commitment while fostering a sense of achievement, helping to build confidence and promoting the rewards of dedication and determination.Year 9 students can also participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award program and apply to attend the Alpine School Leadership Program.

Elwood College strives to equip our students with the necessary skills for all facets of life.
